  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to controlled substances; delaying the 
  1.3             effective date for listing the drug Carisoprodol as a 
  1.4             controlled substance; amending Laws 1997, chapter 239, 
  1.5             article 4, section 15. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Laws 1997, chapter 239, article 4, section 15, 
  1.8   is amended to read: 
  1.9      Sec. 15.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.10     The provision of section 4 relating to the listing of 
  1.11  Butorphanol in schedule IV is effective August 1, 1998, and 
  1.12  applies to acts committed on or after that date.  The provision 
  1.13  of section 4 relating to the listing of Carisoprodol in schedule 
  1.14  IV is effective August 1, 1999, and applies to acts committed on 
  1.15  or after that date.  Sections 1 to 3 and 5 to 13 are effective 
  1.16  August 1, 1997, and apply to acts committed on or after that 
  1.17  date.  Section 14 is effective the day following final enactment.
