  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to housing; providing for a shelter charge on 
  1.3             some tribally owned property; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1998, section 469.040, by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 469.040, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 5.  [DESIGNATED HOUSING CORPORATION.] Property 
  1.10  located within the exterior boundaries of the White Earth Indian 
  1.11  reservation that is owned by the tribe's designated housing 
  1.12  entity as defined in United States Code, title 25, section 
  1.13  4103(21), and that is a housing project or a housing development 
  1.14  project, as defined in section 469.002, subdivisions 13 and 15, 
  1.15  is exempt from all real and personal property taxes of the city, 
  1.16  the county, the state, or any political subdivision thereof, but 
  1.17  the property is subject to subdivision 3.  A copy of those 
  1.18  portions of the annual reports submitted on behalf of the 
  1.19  housing entity to the Secretary of the United States Department 
  1.20  of Housing and Urban Development for the project that contain 
  1.21  information sufficient to determine the amount due under 
  1.22  subdivision 3 satisfies the reporting requirements of 
  1.23  subdivision 3 for the project.
