  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to motor fuels; prohibiting the use of MTBE 
  1.3             as an oxygenate in gasoline sold in Minnesota; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 239.761, 
  1.5             subdivision 6. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 239.761, 
  1.8   subdivision 6, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 6.  [GASOLINE BLENDED WITH OXYGENATE.] No gasoline 
  1.10  containing the oxygenate MTBE, as defined in section 296A.01, 
  1.11  subdivision 34, may be sold or offered for sale at retail in the 
  1.12  state.  Gasoline that is blended with an oxygenate, other than 
  1.13  denatured ethanol, must comply with ASTM specification D 
  1.14  4814-96.  Oxygenates, other than denatured ethanol, must not be 
  1.15  blended into gasoline after the gasoline has been sold, 
  1.16  transferred, or otherwise removed from a refinery or terminal.
