  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to game and fish; extending certain angling 
  1.3             seasons in 1998. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [EXTENDING CERTAIN ANGLING SEASONS.] 
  1.6      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 97C.395, 
  1.7   subdivision 1, paragraph (a), clause (1), and based on climatic 
  1.8   conditions, public safety, and the health of the resource, the 
  1.9   commissioner of natural resources may extend the angling season 
  1.10  for walleye, sauger, northern pike, muskellunge, largemouth 
  1.11  bass, and smallmouth bass beyond the third Sunday in February.  
  1.12  The authorization is only for the 1998 angling season. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.14     This act is effective the day following final enactment.
