  1.2             relating to the operation of state government; crime 
  1.3             prevention and judiciary finance; appropriating money 
  1.4             for the judicial branch, criminal justice technology 
  1.5             infrastructure improvements and grants, Community 
  1.6             Corrections Act subsidy grants, and grants to reduce 
  1.7             sex offender supervision caseloads. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATIONS; SUPREME COURT.] 
  1.10     $305,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.11  supreme court for salary increases for judges and staff. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION; COURT OF APPEALS.] 
  1.13     $233,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the court 
  1.14  of appeals for salary increases for judges and staff. 
  1.15     Sec. 3.  [APPROPRIATION; DISTRICT COURT.] 
  1.16     $2,922,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.17  district court for salary increases for judges and staff. 
  1.18     Sec. 4.  [APPROPRIATION; PUBLIC SAFETY.] 
  1.19     $7,500,000 is a one-time appropriation from the general 
  1.20  fund to the commissioner of public safety to be used for 
  1.21  improvements to criminal justice technology infrastructure and 
  1.22  integration as recommended by the policy group under Minnesota 
  1.23  Statutes, section 299C.65, subdivision 1, and for grants 
  1.24  approved by the policy group under Minnesota Statutes, section 
  1.25  299C.65. 
  1.26     Sec. 5.  [APPROPRIATION; COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS ACT GRANTS.] 
  2.1      $30,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  2.2   commissioner of corrections for Community Corrections Act 
  2.3   subsidy grants under Minnesota Statutes, section 401.10.  This 
  2.4   appropriation must be included in the budget base for the 
  2.5   2002-2003 biennium. 
  2.6      Sec. 6.  [APPROPRIATION; GRANTS TO INCREASE SUPERVISION OF 
  2.7   SEX OFFENDERS.] 
  2.8      $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  2.9   commissioner of corrections for grants to increase supervision 
  2.10  of sex offenders who are on probation, intensive community 
  2.11  supervision, supervised release, or intensive supervised release 
  2.12  by means of caseload reduction.  The grants shall be used to 
  2.13  reduce the numbers of offenders supervised by officers with 
  2.14  specialized caseloads to an average of 35 offenders.  The 
  2.15  commissioner shall distribute the grants according to the 
  2.16  formula contained in Minnesota Statutes, section 401.10.  This 
  2.17  is an ongoing appropriation.
