A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; appropriating money for the children's museum in
the city of Grand Rapids.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; JUDY GARLAND CHILDREN'S DISCOVERY
MUSEUM.

new text begin $1,300,000 in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for a grant to the Judy Garland Children's
Discovery Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to acquire property, and to predesign,
design, construct, renovate, equip, and furnish capital improvements at the museum in the
city of Grand Rapids. This includes purchasing land for development of interactive
enrichment; constructing an outdoor playground and seating area; constructing an indoor
theater space; major projects to preserve or replace mechanical and electrical systems,
including security and accessibility improvements; parking lot renovations to support ongoing
operations. This appropriation is available until the project is completed or abandoned,
subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642. This is a onetime appropriation.
