A bill for an act
relating to funerals; prohibiting the disruption of a funeral service, funeral
ceremony, graveside service, or memorial service; creating penalties; proposing
coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 609.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin (a) For purposes of this section, the following terms
have the meaning given them in this subdivision.

new text begin (b) "Funeral ceremony" has the meaning given in section 149A.02, subdivision 18.

new text begin (c) "Funeral service" has the meaning given in section 149A.02, subdivision 23.

new text begin (d) "Graveside service" has the meaning given in section 149A.02, subdivision 24.

new text begin (e) "Memorial service" has the meaning given in section 149A.02, subdivision 28.

new text begin It is a misdemeanor for a person to knowingly and
willfully disrupt or attempt to disrupt in any manner and for any reason the lawful funeral
service, funeral ceremony, graveside service, or memorial service for any deceased person.

new text begin This section is effective August 1, 2006, and applies to crimes
committed on or after that date.
