A bill for an act
 relating to education finance; fully funding school lunches for all students;
appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 124D.111,
subdivisions 1, 4; Laws 2017, First Special Session chapter 5, article 6, section 3,
subdivision 2.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 124D.111, subdivision 1, is amended to read:


Subdivision 1.

School lunch aid computation.

Each school year, the state must pay
participants in the national school lunch program the amount ofnew text begin :

new text begin (1)new text end 12.5 cents for each deleted text begin full paid anddeleted text end free student lunch deleted text begin anddeleted text end new text begin ;

new text begin (2)new text end 52.5 cents for each reduced-price lunch served to studentsnew text begin ; and

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 124D.111, subdivision 4, is amended to read:


Subd. 4.

A participant that receives school lunch aid under
this section must make lunch available without charge to all participating students deleted text begin who
qualify for free or reduced-price meals. The participant must also ensure that any reminders
for payment of outstanding student meal balances do not demean or stigmatize any child
participating in the school lunch programdeleted text end .new text begin A participant may charge a student a fee for a la
carte items.
