  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to natural resources; creating a snowmobile 
  1.3             trails grant-in-aid pilot program in Dakota county; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 84.83, by 
  1.5             adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 84.83, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 3a.  [DAKOTA COUNTY PILOT PROGRAM.] (a) By November 
  1.10  1, 2000, the commissioner of natural resources shall establish a 
  1.11  pilot program for the distribution of grant-in-aid funds in 
  1.12  Dakota county from the snowmobile trails and enforcement 
  1.13  account.  The commissioner shall distribute grant-in-aid funds 
  1.14  directly to snowmobile clubs for construction and maintenance of 
  1.15  snowmobile trails in Dakota county.  The commissioner and each 
  1.16  snowmobile club participating in the grant-in-aid program shall 
  1.17  enter into a grant agreement detailing the obligations and 
  1.18  responsibilities of the commissioner and the snowmobile club.  
  1.19  All provisions of this section that apply to counties and 
  1.20  municipalities receiving grant-in-aid funds also apply to 
  1.21  snowmobile clubs receiving grant-in-aid funds under this 
  1.22  subdivision. 
  1.23     (b) This subdivision expires April 1, 2003.
