A bill for an act
relating to occupational safety; providing for limited use of hand-powered
manlifts with single suspension cables; proposing coding for new law in
Minnesota Statutes, chapter 182.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin A hand-powered manlift may utilize a single suspension cable if the cable is a wire
rope not less than one-half inch in diameter and is annually inspected by the employer.
A record of the most recent inspection must be documented by the employer and made
available, upon request, to representatives of the Occupational Safety and Health Division.
The inspection must consist of at least an examination of the cable fastenings and related
elements under Minnesota Rules, part 5205.0580, subpart 23.
