A bill for an act
relating to motor vehicles; extending expiration periods for certain temporary
motor vehicle permits.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin TEMPORARY MOTOR VEHICLE PERMITS.

new text begin (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 168.09, subdivision 7; 168.091,
subdivision 1; and 168.092, subdivision 1, a temporary permit issued under any of those
sections is valid through the last day of the sixth month after the month the permit was
issued.

new text begin (b) The valid permit period under paragraph (a) applies to temporary permits issued
from the effective date of this section to December 31, 2018, and applies to temporary
permits that are unexpired as of the effective date of this section, regardless of the expiration
date indicated on the permit.
