A bill for an act
relating to transportation; providing contingent appropriation for highway safety
rest areas; appropriating money; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota
Statutes, chapter 160.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE.

new text begin If, before July 1 of an odd-numbered year, legislation is not enacted to appropriate
money to the commissioner of transportation for state roads operations and maintenance
in the next fiscal year, an amount equal to the expenditures in the previous fiscal year
for operation and maintenance of the state highway rest area system is appropriated
from the trunk highway fund to the commissioner of transportation for operation and
maintenance of state highway safety rest areas, including costs of employees needed to
carry out these functions. The commissioner of management and budget shall ensure that
the commissioner of transportation is able to access money under this appropriation.
