A bill for an act
relating to workforce development; requiring training for employers of persons
with autism spectrum disorder; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin EMPLOYER AUTISM AWARENESS EDUCATION AND TRAINING;
APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $170,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2013 to the
commissioner of employment and economic development to establish and maintain an
employer network, and to develop, implement, and disseminate information, training,
and education opportunities for Minnesota employers regarding the talents, necessary
employment supports, and resources available to support the hiring and retention of
persons diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The commissioner must work
cooperatively with the Autism Society of Minnesota, employers, persons with autism,
and others as necessary to carry out the requirements of this section. This is a onetime
appropriation and is available until expended.
