A bill for an act
relating to stadiums; directing the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission
to offer the Metrodome to the professional football team; abolishing the
commission.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin (a) For the purposes of this section, the terms in this
subdivision have the meanings given.

new text begin (b) "Team" means a professional football team.
new text end

new text begin (c) "League" means the National Football League.
new text end

new text begin Subd. 2. new text end

new text begin Preconditions. new text end

new text begin Before ownership of the Metrodome may be transferred to
a professional football team, the Metropolitan Council must enter into an agreement with
the team, the league, the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission, and any other entity
necessary or convenient to the transfer that includes the following:

new text begin (1) the team will remain in Minnesota and play professional football with the league
for at least 20 years;
new text end

new text begin (2) if the team sells the Metrodome property, it must pay $5,000,000 to Hennepin
County;
new text end

new text begin (3) the team will ensure that all public infrastructure associated with the Metrodome
and its use is maintained;
new text end

new text begin (4) the team will pay $1 to the state of Minnesota as payment in full for the
Metrodome and property; and
new text end

new text begin (5) any other term that is determined to be in the public interest.

new text begin Upon execution of an agreement meeting the terms required by
subdivision 2, the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission shall complete transfer to
the team of all assets, liabilities, and obligations related to the Metrodome.

Sec. 2. new text begin METROPOLITAN SPORTS FACILITIES COMMISSION ABOLISHED.

new text begin Upon transfer of the Metrodome to the team as provided in section 1, the
Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission is abolished.
