A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money to the Office of the Attorney General
to provide legal services for violent crimes and financial exploitation.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $2,021,000 in fiscal year 2024 and $2,021,000 in fiscal year 2025 are appropriated from
the general fund to the Office of the Attorney General to provide needed legal services to
prosecute violent crimes and crimes that financially harm consumers and businesses. This
appropriation shall be used to hire seven full-time equivalent attorneys and two full-time
equivalent legal assistants to enable the attorney general's office to aid in the enforcement
of the criminal laws of the state, to respond to the unmet needs of counties, and to provide
necessary assistance with county prosecution of serious offenses. The fiscal year 2025
appropriation is added to the base in fiscal year 2026 and thereafter.
