  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to capital improvements; appropriating money 
  1.3             for trunk highway building projects in St. Cloud, 
  1.4             Detroit Lakes, Moorhead, and the metropolitan area. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; TRUNK HIGHWAY BUILDINGS.] 
  1.7      $27,341,000 is appropriated from the trunk highway fund to 
  1.8   the commissioner of transportation for the following capital 
  1.9   improvement projects: 
  1.10     (1) department of transportation district headquarters 
  1.11  building in St. Cloud, $10,350,000; 
  1.12     (2) department of transportation district headquarters 
  1.13  building in Detroit Lakes, $8,724,000; 
  1.14     (3) metropolitan regional transportation management center, 
  1.15  $6,672,000; and 
  1.16     (4) Moorhead truck station, $1,600,000. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [RESTRICTION.] 
  1.18     The commissioner of transportation must sell the building 
  1.19  that was being used as the traffic management center on the 
  1.20  effective date of this act to an entity other than the state or 
  1.21  a state agency within three years of the date on which 
  1.22  occupation of the new transportation management center described 
  1.23  in section 1, clause (3), has been completed.  The commissioner 
  1.24  need not comply with this requirement if the commissioner 
  1.25  determines that no offers made to the commissioner for purchase 
  2.1   of the building will return fair market value for it. 
  2.2      Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.3      Sections 1 and 2 are effective July 1, 2000.
