  1.2             relating to game and fish; modifying provisions for 
  1.3             using artificial lights to locate animals; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 97B.081, subdivision 
  1.5             2. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 97B.081, 
  1.8   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 2.  [WITHOUT FIREARMS.] Between the hours of 10:00 
  1.10  p.m. and 6:00 a.m. From September 1 to December 31, a person may 
  1.11  not cast the rays of a spotlight, headlight, or other artificial 
  1.12  light in a field, woodland, or forest to spot, locate, or take a 
  1.13  wild animal except to take raccoons under section 97B.621, 
  1.14  subdivision 3, or to tend traps under section 97B.931.  It is 
  1.15  not a violation of this subdivision for a person to carry out 
  1.16  any agricultural, occupational, or recreational practice, 
  1.17  including snowmobiling that is not related to spotting, 
  1.18  locating, or taking a wild animal.
