A bill for an act
relating to natural resources; applying open meeting law to certain treaty-related
meetings; requiring aquatic invasive species report; proposing coding for new
law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 97A.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin Meetings involving the Department of Natural Resources, Ojibwe bands, and the
Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission regarding 1837 treaty rights are subject
to the open meeting requirements under chapter 13D. Up to five members of the Mille
Lacs Fishery Input Group must be allowed to attend any meeting under this section.

Sec. 2. new text begin AQUATIC INVASIVE SPECIES; MILLE LACS AND CEDED
TERRITORIES; REPORT.

new text begin The commissioner of natural resources shall provide a report to the Mille Lacs
Fishery Input Group describing the extent to which state law and the Department of
Natural Resources require containment of aquatic invasive species in Lake Mille Lacs and
the ceded territories and the existing enforcement mechanisms to achieve containment
in those areas.
