A bill for an act
relating to energy; adopting federal appliance and lighting efficiency standards.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPLIANCE AND LIGHTING EFFICIENCY STANDARDS.

new text begin (a) If the federal appliance and lighting efficiency standards are repealed or voided, the
federal appliance and lighting efficiency standards adopted under Public Law 110-140,
subtitle B, section 321, in effect as of January 1, 2017, become effective in Minnesota.

new text begin (b) Beginning January 20, 2020, the federal standards for general service lighting adopted
by the United States Department of Energy pursuant to Public Law 110-140, subtitle B,
section 321, and scheduled to come into effect on January 20, 2020, are effective in
Minnesota.

new text begin (c) This section does not supersede or modify any appliance and lighting efficiency
standards existing or subsequently enacted in Minnesota that exceed the federal standards.
