  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to liquor; modifying restrictions for 
  1.3             temporary on-sale licenses; discontinuing the use of 
  1.4             the term "nonintoxicating liquor"; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1994, section 340A.411, subdivision 1, and by 
  1.6             adding a subdivision; Minnesota Statutes 1995 
  1.7             Supplement, section 340A.410, subdivision 10.  
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1995 Supplement, section 
  1.10  340A.410, subdivision 10, is amended to read: 
  1.11     Subd. 10.  [TEMPORARY LICENSES; RESTRICTION ON NUMBER 
  1.12  RESTRICTIONS.] (a) A municipality may not issue more than 
  1.13  three four-day, four three-day, or six two-day temporary 
  1.14  licenses, in any combination not to exceed 12 days per year, 
  1.15  under section 340A.404, subdivision 10, for the sale of 
  1.16  alcoholic beverages to any one organization or registered 
  1.17  political committee, or for any one location, within a 12-month 
  1.18  period. 
  1.19     (b) A municipality may not issue more than one temporary 
  1.20  license under section 340A.404, subdivision 10, for the sale of 
  1.21  alcoholic beverages to any one organization or registered 
  1.22  political committee, or for any one location, within any 30-day 
  1.23  period. 
  1.24     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 340A.411, 
  1.25  subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.26     Subdivision 1.  [ON-SALE LICENSES.] On-sale nonintoxicating 
  2.1   3.2 percent malt liquor licenses may only be issued to 
  2.2   drugstores, restaurants, hotels, clubs, bowling centers, and 
  2.3   establishments used exclusively for the sale of 3.2 percent malt 
  2.4   liquor with the incidental sale of tobacco and soft drinks. 
  2.5      Sec. 3.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 340A.411, is 
  2.6   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  2.7      Subd. 3.  [TERMINOLOGY.] A political subdivision may not 
  2.8   issue a 3.2 percent malt liquor license that includes the term 
  2.9   "nonintoxicating liquor." 
  2.10     Sec. 4.  [INSTRUCTION TO REVISOR.] 
  2.11     The revisor of statutes shall change the words 
  2.12  "nonintoxicating liquor" wherever they appear in Minnesota 
  2.13  Statutes and Minnesota Rules to "3.2 percent malt liquor."
