  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to natural resources; modifying provisions 
  1.3             for Casey Jones state trail; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 2000, section 85.015, subdivision 2. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 85.015, 
  1.7   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 2.  [CASEY JONES TRAIL, MURRAY, REDWOOD, AND 
  1.9   PIPESTONE COUNTIES.] (a) The trail shall originate in Lake 
  1.10  Shetek state park, in Murray county, and include the six-mile 
  1.11  loop between Currie in Murray county and Lake Shetek state 
  1.12  park.  From there, the first half of the trail shall trail 
  1.13  southwesterly to Slayton, Minnesota in Murray county; thence 
  1.14  westerly to the point of intersection with the most easterly 
  1.15  terminus of the state-owned abandoned railroad right-of-way, 
  1.16  commonly known as the Casey Jones unit; thence westerly along 
  1.17  said Casey Jones unit to Pipestone, Minnesota, in Pipestone 
  1.18  county; thence southwesterly to Split Rock Creek state park in 
  1.19  Pipestone county, and there terminate.  The second half of the 
  1.20  trail shall commence in Lake Shetek state park in Murray county 
  1.21  and trail northeasterly to Walnut Grove in Redwood county and 
  1.22  there terminate.  
  1.23     (b) The trail shall be developed primarily for riding and 
  1.24  hiking as a multiuse, multiseasonal, dual treadway trail. 
  1.25  Nothing herein shall abrogate the purpose for which the Casey 
  2.1   Jones unit was originally established, and the use thereof shall 
  2.2   be concurrent.
