  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to civil actions; clarifying that civil 
  1.3             liability for receiving motor fuel without paying does 
  1.4             not bar criminal liability; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 2002, section 604.15, by adding a subdivision.
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 604.15, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 5.  [NOT A BAR TO CRIMINAL LIABILITY.] Civil 
  1.10  liability under this section does not preclude criminal 
  1.11  liability under applicable law. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.13     Section 1 is effective July 1, 2004, and applies to acts 
  1.14  committed on or after that date.
