  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to elections; requiring years of prior 
  1.3             service to be printed on ballots next to names of 
  1.4             certain incumbents; amending Minnesota Statutes 1994, 
  1.5             section 204B.36, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 204B.36, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 6.  [YEARS OF SERVICE OF INCUMBENT; LEGISLATIVE AND 
  1.10  STATEWIDE OFFICES.] If an incumbent state legislator or 
  1.11  incumbent constitutional officer is a candidate to succeed 
  1.12  again, the number of years of the candidate's prior service in 
  1.13  that office shall be printed after that candidate's name on the 
  1.14  ballot.
