A bill for an act
relating to education; modifying board requirements for the Minnesota State
Academies; amending Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 125A.62, subdivision 1.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 125A.62, subdivision 1, is amended to read:


Subdivision 1.

Governance.

The board of the Minnesota State Academies deleted text begin shalldeleted text end new text begin mustnew text end
govern the State Academy for the Deaf and the State Academy for the Blind. The board
must promote academic standards based on high expectation and an assessment system to
measure academic performance toward the achievement of those standards. The board must
focus on the academies' needs as a whole and deleted text begin not prefer one school over the otherdeleted text end new text begin must
support deaf, hard of hearing, blind, and visually impaired students statewide
new text end . The board
