A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money for peace officer training
reimbursement.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin PEACE OFFICER TRAINING ASSISTANCE.

new text begin $6,000,000 each year is from the general fund to support and strengthen law enforcement
training and implement best practices. After January 2, 2021, these funds may only be used
to reimburse training expenses for peace officers who are employed by law enforcement
agencies that the superintendent of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has certified are
compliant with the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Incident-Based Report System
(NIBRS). The base for this activity is $6,000,000 in fiscal years 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023
and $0 in fiscal year 2024 and thereafter.
