  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to natural resources; permitting certain 
  1.3             sales of venison meals by nonprofit organizations; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 97A.501, 
  1.5             subdivision 1. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 97A.501, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [GENERAL RESTRICTIONS.] (a) A person may 
  1.10  not take, buy, sell, transport, or possess a protected wild 
  1.11  animal unless allowed by the game and fish laws.  The ownership 
  1.12  of all wild animals is in the state, unless the wild animal has 
  1.13  been lawfully acquired under the game and fish laws.  The 
  1.14  ownership of a wild animal that is lawfully acquired reverts to 
  1.15  the state if a law relating to sale, transportation, or 
  1.16  possession of the wild animal is violated.  
  1.17     (b) Nonprofit organizations may charge a fee for admission 
  1.18  to fundraising events where venison donated to the organization 
  1.19  is served for consumption on the premises where the fundraising 
  1.20  event is held. 
  1.21     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.22     This act is effective the day following final enactment.
