  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to government data practices; limiting the 
  1.3             immunity of a school district and others for good 
  1.4             faith use and sharing of certain data on minors; 
  1.5             amending Minnesota Statutes 1999 Supplement, section 
  1.6             13.32, subdivision 7. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1999 Supplement, section 
  1.9   13.32, subdivision 7, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 7.  [USES OF DATA.] School officials who receive data 
  1.11  on juveniles, as authorized under sections 260B.171 and 
  1.12  260C.171, may use and share that data within the school district 
  1.13  or educational entity as necessary to protect persons and 
  1.14  property or to address the educational and other needs of 
  1.15  students.  A school district, its agents and employees, who use 
  1.16  and share such data in good faith are immune from civil or 
  1.17  criminal liability that might otherwise result from their 
  1.18  actions.
