  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to highways; directing the designation of 
  1.3             marked trunk highway No. 23 from St. Cloud to I-90 as 
  1.4             a high-priority interregional corridor and directing 
  1.5             its reconstruction as a multilane divided highway. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [COMMISSIONER OF TRANSPORTATION; TRUNK HIGHWAY 
  1.8   NO. 23.] 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [DESIGNATION AS HIGH-PRIORITY INTERREGIONAL 
  1.10  CORRIDOR.] The commissioner of transportation shall designate 
  1.11  marked trunk highway No. 23 from St. Cloud to its intersection 
  1.12  with marked interstate highway No. 90 as a high-priority 
  1.13  interregional corridor. 
  1.14     Subd. 2.  [RECONSTRUCTION.] The commissioner shall take 
  1.15  such actions as the commissioner deems necessary to accomplish 
  1.16  the objective of reconstructing marked trunk highway No. 23 from 
  1.17  St. Cloud to its intersection with marked interstate highway No. 
  1.18  90 as a multilane divided highway with all segments either 
  1.19  constructed, under construction, or included in the 
  1.20  commissioner's statewide transportation improvement program by 
  1.21  January 1, 2013. 
  1.22     Subd. 3.  [REPORTS.] The commissioner shall report to the 
  1.23  legislature by February 1 of each year from 2002 to 2013 on the 
  1.24  commissioner's progress in complying with the requirements of 
  1.25  subdivisions 1 and 2.
