A bill for an act
relating to transportation; appropriating money for a passenger rail demonstration
project and a Northstar commuter rail extension feasibility study.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1. new text begin PASSENGER RAIL DEMONSTRATION PROJECT; APPROPRIATION.

$3,000,000 in fiscal year 2018 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of transportation to conduct up to a six-month demonstration project that provides rail
service between the cities of Minneapolis and St. Cloud.

Sec. 2. new text begin NORTHSTAR RAIL EXTENSION FEASIBILITY STUDY;
APPROPRIATION.

$850,000 in fiscal year 2018 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of transportation to study the feasibility of extending Northstar commuter rail between the
cities of St. Cloud and Big Lake.
