  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state government; limiting circumstances 
  1.3             in which state funds can be used for demolition of the 
  1.4             Ford Building. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [RESTRICTIONS ON DEMOLITION.] 
  1.7      No state money may be used for demolition of the Ford 
  1.8   Building at 117 University Avenue, Saint Paul, unless: 
  1.9      (1) the commissioner of administration makes reasonable 
  1.10  efforts to attempt to transfer ownership of the building to a 
  1.11  person or entity that will preserve the historic features of the 
  1.12  building, at no cost to the state; and 
  1.13     (2) the commissioner reports to the chairs of the Senate 
  1.14  Finance Committee and the House Capital Investment Committee on 
  1.15  what efforts were made to transfer ownership, and why these 
  1.16  efforts were not successful. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.18     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
