  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to insurance; auto; regulating accident 
  1.3             prevention courses; authorizing single-session courses 
  1.4             of study; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 
  1.5             65B.28, subdivision 2; repealing Minnesota Rules, part 
  1.6             7411.7600, subpart 2. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 65B.28, 
  1.9   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 2.  [ACCIDENT PREVENTION COURSE; RULES.] The 
  1.11  commissioner of public safety shall adopt rules establishing and 
  1.12  regulating a motor vehicle accident prevention course for 
  1.13  persons 55 years old and older.  The rules must, at a minimum, 
  1.14  include provisions:  
  1.15     (1) establishing curriculum requirements; 
  1.16     (2) establishing the number of hours required for 
  1.17  successful completion of the course; and 
  1.18     (3) providing for the issuance of a course completion 
  1.19  certification and requiring its submission to an insured as 
  1.20  evidence of completion of the course. 
  1.21     In addition to the curriculum requirements established 
  1.22  pursuant to clause (1), the course of study may not be less than 
  1.23  a total of eight hours, and may be offered in one session.  
  1.24     Sec. 2.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.25     Minnesota Rules, part 7411.7600, subpart 2, is repealed.
