A bill for an act
relating to education; appropriating money for a report on African immigrant
credential integration.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin AFRICAN IMMIGRANT CREDENTIAL INTEGRATION REPORT.

new text begin $....... in fiscal year 2020 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of
education for a grant to Minnesota Africans United to research ways to recognize credentials
from African immigrants who arrive in the state with educational credits, prior learning, or
other credentials from outside the state. Minnesota Africans United, in collaboration with
the Department of Education, shall report on ways to recognize credentials and integrate
prior learning into the economy. The report must be filed with legislative committees with
jurisdiction over education and economic development by January 15, 2020.
