A bill for an act
 relating to health; modifying the continuity of care provision of the health care
bill of rights; amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 144.651, subdivision
11.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 144.651, subdivision 11, is amended to
read:


Subd. 11.

Continuity of care.

new text begin (a) new text end Patients and residents shall have the right to be
cared for with reasonable regularity and continuity of staff assignment as far as facility
policy allows.

new text begin (b) An entity responsible for payment for all or a portion of the patient's medical
bills shall not request, pressure, coerce, or otherwise attempt to cause a psychiatric patient
to be transferred to a different hospital based on the network participation status of the
treating hospital.
