A bill for an act
relating to liquor; providing for the sale of malt beverages; amending Minnesota
Statutes 2018, section 340A.403, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 340A.403, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin Notwithstanding subdivision 1 or section 340A.405, the governing
body of a city or county that has issued an off-sale license to a person for the sale of 3.2
percent malt liquor under this section must issue to the person a license for the sale of
intoxicating malt liquor. A license under this subdivision may not be issued in an area where
the sale of intoxicating malt liquor is prohibited under section 340A.412, subdivision 4.
Section 340A.412, subdivision 3, and section 340A.413, subdivision 5, do not apply to a
license issued under this subdivision.
