A bill for an act
relating to crimes; prohibiting attempting to disarm peace officers when the
officer is engaged in the performance of duties; proposing coding for new law in
Minnesota Statutes, chapter 609.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

A WEAPON.

new text begin (a) Whoever knowingly interferes with a peace officer by attempting to disarm
or prevent the use of a weapon by the officer when the officer is effectuating an arrest
or otherwise engaged in the performance of duties is guilty of a felony and may be
sentenced to imprisonment for one year and one day or to payment of a fine of not more
than $5,000, or both.

incapacitation device or taser, as defined in section 624.731, subdivision 1, paragraph (b).
