  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to highways; designating Brainerd bypass as 
  1.3             C. Elmer Anderson Memorial Highway; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1998, section 161.14, subdivision 25, and by 
  1.5             adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 161.14, 
  1.8   subdivision 25, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 25.  [PAUL BUNYAN EXPRESSWAY.] That portion of trunk 
  1.10  highway marked No. 371 from Little Falls to its intersection 
  1.11  with trunk highway marked No. 2 in Cass Lake, except for that 
  1.12  portion named in subdivision 45, and that portion of trunk 
  1.13  highway marked No. 2 from its intersection with trunk highway 
  1.14  marked No. 371 in Cass Lake to Bemidji, is named and designated 
  1.15  the "Paul Bunyan Expressway."  The commissioner shall adopt a 
  1.16  suitable marking design to mark this highway and shall erect the 
  1.17  appropriate signs. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 161.14, is 
  1.19  amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.20     Subd. 45.  [C. ELMER ANDERSON MEMORIAL HIGHWAY.] That 
  1.21  portion of marked trunk highway No. 371 from its intersection 
  1.22  with Design Drive in Baxter to the unincorporated community of 
  1.23  Barrows, known as the Brainerd bypass, is named and designated 
  1.24  the "C. Elmer Anderson Memorial Highway."  Subject to the 
  1.25  provisions of section 161.139, the commissioner shall adopt a 
  2.1   suitable marking design to mark this highway and shall erect the 
  2.2   appropriate signs.
