  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to juvenile violence; authorizing the 
  1.3             counties of Hennepin and Ramsey to establish a 
  1.4             juvenile violence prevention task force; appropriating 
  1.5             money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [RAMSEY COUNTY; JUVENILE VIOLENCE PREVENTION 
  1.8   TASK FORCE; MEMBERS; DUTIES.] 
  1.9      The counties of Hennepin and Ramsey may each establish a 
  1.10  pilot project that creates a juvenile violence prevention task 
  1.11  force consisting of one prosecutor, one investigating officer, 
  1.12  one legal assistant, and one victim/witness coordinator. 
  1.13     The juvenile violence task force shall:  
  1.14     (1) target investigating and prosecuting juveniles who 
  1.15  commit crimes using dangerous weapons, as defined in Minnesota 
  1.16  Statutes, section 609.02, subdivision 6; 
  1.17     (2) identify, track, investigate, and prosecute persons who 
  1.18  furnish dangerous weapons to juveniles; 
  1.19     (3) work closely with other members of the criminal justice 
  1.20  system, including other local jurisdictions, the Bureau of 
  1.21  Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms of the United States Treasury 
  1.22  Department, and out-of-state agencies involved in investigating 
  1.23  and prosecuting juvenile violence; and 
  1.24     (4) develop a collaborative relationship with neighborhoods 
  1.25  and communities that are involved with the juvenile violence 
  2.1   prevention problem. 
  2.2      Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  2.3      (a) $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  2.4   county of Ramsey to fund the activities of the juvenile violence 
  2.5   prevention task force authorized to be established under section 
  2.6   1 to be available until June 30, 1998. 
  2.7      (b) $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  2.8   county of Hennepin to fund the activities of the juvenile 
  2.9   violence prevention task force authorized to be established 
  2.10  under section 1 to be available until June 30, 1998.
