  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; modifying special education 
  1.3             revenue; amending Minnesota Statutes 1995 Supplement, 
  1.4             section 124.3201, subdivision 3, and by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1995 Supplement, section 
  1.8   124.3201, is amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 2a.  [SPECIAL EDUCATION TUITION REVENUE.] For fiscal 
  1.10  year 1996 and later, a district's special education tuition 
  1.11  revenue is equal to 50 percent of the difference between tuition 
  1.12  costs in the base year and actual tuition costs for pupils whose 
  1.13  individual education plans require placement in another district 
  1.14  under section 120.17. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 1995 Supplement, section 
  1.16  124.3201, subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.17     Subd. 3.  [ADJUSTED SPECIAL EDUCATION BASE REVENUE.] For 
  1.18  fiscal year 1996 and later, a district's adjusted special 
  1.19  education base revenue equals the district's special education 
  1.20  base revenue times the ratio of the district's average daily 
  1.21  membership for the current school year to the district's average 
  1.22  daily membership for the base year; plus the district's special 
  1.23  education tuition revenue under subdivision 2a.
