  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education finance; creating a 
  1.3             transportation reserve account; appropriating money; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 123B.92, by 
  1.5             adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 123B.92, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 11.  [PUPIL TRANSPORTATION RESERVE.] Pupil 
  1.10  transportation revenue equals $60 times the adjusted marginal 
  1.11  cost pupil units of the district.  Pupil transportation revenue 
  1.12  must be reserved for pupil transportation expenses. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.14     $53,082,000 in fiscal year 2002 and $58,980,000 in fiscal 
  1.15  year 2003 are appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.16  commissioner of children, families, and learning for pupil 
  1.17  transportation revenue under Minnesota Statutes, section 
  1.18  123B.92, subdivision 11.  The 2003 appropriation includes 
  1.19  $5,898,000 for 2002 and $53,082,000 for 2003.  Any balance the 
  1.20  first year does not cancel but is available in the second year.
