  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to appropriations; appropriating money for 
  1.3             continuation of research on amphibian deformities. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $500,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.7   commissioner of the pollution control agency for acceleration of 
  1.8   research being conducted on deformities and possible causes 
  1.9   found in amphibians.  The funding must be shared with the 
  1.10  departments of agriculture, natural resources, and health and 
  1.11  with the appropriate University of Minnesota departments. 
  1.12  $39,000 of the appropriation must be shared with Hamline 
  1.13  University for its friends of the frog program.  The money must 
  1.14  be used for research and monitoring of amphibian deformities, 
  1.15  including, but not limited to, a possible groundwater surface 
  1.16  water interconnection.  The money may be used as a match for any 
  1.17  federal dollars available. 
  1.18     A work program on expenditure of this appropriation must be 
  1.19  made to the legislative commission on Minnesota resources before 
  1.20  any money is expended.
