A bill for an act
relating to agriculture; appropriating money for grants to certain pork producers.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; PORK PRODUCER GRANTS.

new text begin $25,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of agriculture
for grants to pork producers whose revenue has been severely affected in 2009 by bad
publicity concerning the H1N1 virus. The commissioner shall consult with the Minnesota
Pork Producers Association in determining which pork producers will receive grants under
this section, the amounts of grants to be made and maximum amounts for those grants,
and procedures to be followed by and information required of grant applicants. This
appropriation is available until June 30, 2011.
