  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             proposing an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, 
  1.3             article VII, section 6; changing the age of 
  1.4             eligibility to hold elective office from 21 to 18. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.] 
  1.7      An amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, article VII, 
  1.8   section 6, is proposed to the people.  
  1.9      If the amendment is adopted, the section will read: 
  1.10     Sec. 6.  Every person who by the provisions of this article 
  1.11  is entitled to vote at any election and is 21 18 years of age is 
  1.12  eligible for any office elective by the people in the district 
  1.13  wherein he has resided 30 days previous to the election, except 
  1.14  as otherwise provided in this constitution, or the constitution 
  1.15  and law of the United States. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [SUBMISSION TO VOTERS.] 
  1.17     The proposed amendment must be submitted to the people at 
  1.18  the 2004 general election.  The question submitted must be: 
  1.19     "Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to change the 
  1.20  age of eligibility to hold elective office from 21 to 18 years 
  1.21  of age? 
  1.22                                     Yes .......
  1.23                                     No ........"
