  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to appropriations; appropriating money for a 
  1.3             study of environmental issues relating to hog feedlots.
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $215,500 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.7   commissioner of the pollution control agency to conduct 
  1.8   investigations and analysis of environmental issues regarding 
  1.9   existing multisite hog feedlots of statewide significance.  
  1.10  These funds may be used for literature reviews, data collection, 
  1.11  groundwater and surface water assessments, air quality modeling, 
  1.12  and other relevant analyses.  The agency shall prepare a report 
  1.13  on the investigations and analyses, which may be used on a 
  1.14  generic basis for the siting and environmental review of other 
  1.15  multisite hog feedlots of statewide significance.  The agency 
  1.16  shall give highest priority to the investigation and analysis of 
  1.17  existing multisite hog feedlots of statewide significance where 
  1.18  an environmental impact statement is being prepared or will be 
  1.19  prepared as part of a court order.
