A bill for an act
relating to gambling enforcement; preventing enforcement of certain federal
laws without prior legislative authorization; proposing coding for new law in
Minnesota Statutes, chapter 299A.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

PROHIBITION.

new text begin The Department of Public Safety shall not conduct any investigations or enforcement
related to Internet gambling, or to enforcement of federal laws, including but not limited
to the Wire Act of 1960, United States Code, title 18, section 1084, or other federal act
relating to Internet gambling without prior legislative approval. The department may
recommend legislation to authorize such investigations or enforcement actions. The
attorney general is prohibited from cooperating with such investigations or enforcement
actions without prior legislative approval.
