  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; modifying the referendum 
  1.3             allowance reduction; amending Minnesota Statutes 1994, 
  1.4             section 124A.03, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 124A.03, is 
  1.7   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 3c.  [REFERENDUM ALLOWANCE REDUCTION; 
  1.9   CANCELLATION.] For school referendum levies approved after July 
  1.10  1, 1996, for taxes payable in 1997 and thereafter, no portion of 
  1.11  a district's referendum authority shall be reduced under 
  1.12  subdivision 3b.
