relating to arts and cultural heritage; creating grants for schools to attend cultural
events.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; SCHOOL TRAVEL GRANTS.

new text begin $1,500,000 in fiscal year 2010 is appropriated from the arts and cultural heritage
fund to the commissioner of education for grants to schools, prekindergarten programs,
and day care programs, to defray the travel and attendance costs for children ages 3 to 17
to attend cultural events at museums, historic sites, musical events, artistic events, zoos, or
other culturally educational events or venues. Grants may be for no more than $3,000
for any one event, and no more than $10,000 for any one grant recipient. No more than
one percent of these funds may be used for administration.
