A bill for an act
relating to state government; providing for disposition and use of Capitol
restoration marble; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin SURPLUS CAPITOL RESTORATION MARBLE; DISPOSITION;
APPROPRIATION.

new text begin (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 16B.2975, the Capitol Area
Architectural and Planning Board is authorized to use reclaimed, recycled, surplus, or
unused Capitol restoration marble to create and sell Capitol-themed memorabilia.

new text begin (b) Proceeds from the sale of memorabilia created under paragraph (a) are
appropriated to the commissioner of administration to develop and construct on the
State Capitol grounds, in consultation with a Minnesota-based artist or designer, a
plaque, memorial, or other appropriate public fixture honoring Minnesotans currently
underrepresented by existing statues and memorials on the Capitol complex.

paragraph (a).
