  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             proposing an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, 
  1.3             by adding a section to article XIII; establishing the 
  1.4             same constitutional standard for the Minnesota 
  1.5             Constitution and the United States Constitution for 
  1.6             issues relating to abortion.  
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  [CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.] 
  1.9      An amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, adding a 
  1.10  section to article XIII is proposed to the people.  If the 
  1.11  amendment is adopted, the new section will read as follows: 
  1.12     Sec. 12.  Nothing in this constitution may be construed to 
  1.13  relate to abortion in a manner different from the constitution 
  1.14  of the United States. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [QUESTION.] 
  1.16     The amendment shall be submitted to the people at the 1998 
  1.17  general election.  The question proposed shall be: 
  1.18     "Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to provide 
  1.19  that it may not be interpreted to relate to abortion in any way 
  1.20  different from the United States Constitution? 
  1.21                                     Yes .......
  1.22                                     No ........"
