A bill for an act
relating to agriculture; appropriating money for avian influenza payments.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; AVIAN INFLUENZA PAYMENTS.

new text begin $2,000,000 in fiscal year 2015 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of agriculture for grants to the primary owner of each commercial poultry
production premises where birds were depopulated after the United States Department
of Agriculture confirmed the presence of highly pathogenic avian influenza. The
commissioner shall award grants at a rate of $7,000 per premises for each full month that
elapsed from the date of positive confirmation until the date of initial flock repopulation,
not to exceed four full months. This appropriation is available until June 30, 2016.
