  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to corrections; requiring all counties to be 
  1.3             charged for the actual costs of confinement of 
  1.4             juvenile females at the Minnesota correctional 
  1.5             facility-Sauk Centre; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.6             1998, section 242.192. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 242.192, is 
  1.9   amended to read: 
  1.10     242.192 [CHARGES TO COUNTIES.] 
  1.11     The commissioner shall charge counties or other appropriate 
  1.12  jurisdictions for the actual per diem cost of confinement, 
  1.13  excluding educational costs, of juveniles at the Minnesota 
  1.14  correctional facility-Red Wing and of juvenile females at the 
  1.15  Minnesota correctional facility-Sauk Centre.  This charge 
  1.16  applies to both counties that participate in the Community 
  1.17  Corrections Act and those that do not.  The commissioner shall 
  1.18  annually determine costs, making necessary adjustments to 
  1.19  reflect the actual costs of confinement.  All money received 
  1.20  under this section must be deposited in the state treasury and 
  1.21  credited to the general fund.
